Congratulations to Priyanka Deshpande for receiving 3rd place at the BME Undergraduate Poster Symposium!
A huge congratulations to Alicia Allen for winning a highly competitive National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship! This fellowship provides three years financial support and travel opportunities for graduate students to research abroad. Good job, Alicia!
Undergrads Karl Solomon and Robert Xu competed in the UT BMES Robotics Design Competition. Their team programmed a robot made from Legos that can locate and expose a model tumor in a gel. The contest is open to all engineering departments. All their hard work paid off, and their team won 1st place! Congratulations Karl and Robert!
The Zoldan Group attended a conversation with Dr. Robert Langer hosted by the Cockrell School of Engineering Innovation Center. Dr. Zoldan did her postdoctoral research in the Langer lab at MIT.
Congratulations to undergraduate Robert Xu for winning a Presidential Award Enrichment Scholarship!
Zoldan Group undergraduates Madhavi, Priyanka, Alexandra, and Karl presented their research posters during the BME Undergraduate Research Symposium.
Madhavi Nambair, “Effect of protein synthesis rate on drug resistance in multiple myeloma cells”
Priyanka Deshpande, “Construction of bioartificial organs using pluripotent and naïve stem cells”
Alexandra Dugger, “Electrospining and melt spinning of fibrous matrices”
Karl Solomon, “Hydrogel polymer libraries for developing induced pluripotent stem cell derived cardiac patches”
Great presentations everybody, and congratulations on a great semester of research!
Congratulations to undergrads Priyanka Deshpande and Robert Xu for receiving Undergraduate Research Fellowships! Robert and Priyanka are researching stem cell behavior in decellularized pancreas and kidney matrices.
The Zoldan Group attended the Biomedical Engineering Society meeting in San Antonio, TX and Alicia, Chengyi, and Alysa presented their posters:
Alicia Allen, “PEGylated Fibrin Biomaterials for Cardiomyocyte Culture”
Chengyi Tu, “Monitoring Protein Synthesis in Live Multiple Myeloma Cells”
Alysa Joaquin, “Hydrogel Polymer Libraries for Developing Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Derived Cardiac Patches”
The Zoldan Group attended Texas Biomaterials Day, held at the National Center for Therapeutics Manufacturing at Texas A&M University. Dr. Zoldan gave the concluding lecture of the day, titled “Engineering the Differentiation of Human Pluripotent Stem Cells.” Biomaterials day is an annual, one-day conference featuring guest speakers from academia, medicine, and industry. The poster session features students from Texas A&M University, Rice University, and the University of Texas at Austin.
